Australia's Festival of Porridge

Australian Porridge Making Championship
The Pearly Spurtle is Australia’s official Porridge Making Championship, with the overall champion earning the opportunity to represent Australia at the Golden Spurtle World Porridge Making Championship in Carrbridge, Scotland.
The Golden Spurtle is the international championship of porridge making, attracting 30 competitors from around the world to compete for the title of World Porridge Making Champion.
The inaugural Pearly Spurtle was held at Pearl Beach in August 2026, with 15 competitors competing across three heats and a final. Robert Reid won the inaugural title and qualified to represent Australia at the Golden Spurtle in Scotland in October 2026.
For 2027, the Pearly Spurtle will again provide Australia's pathway to the international championship — giving Australian porridge makers the chance to compete at home for the opportunity to take on the world's best in Carrbridge.
