A local Pearl Beach resident, Muriel came from South Africa with her husband and son more than 40 years ago. Her family left their home country to have a better life in Australia, and after working hard they bought a small cottage in Woy Woy. Muriel started eating porridge from the age of one, and still enjoys it as her staple for breakfast. In South Africa, Muriel remembers eating the brand Jungle Oats which is still available today. Muriel loves volunteering in her community and is a regular 'egg cooker' at the Pearl Beach Progress Association's Breakfast BBQ each month.
